Situated just north of Maputo - the capital city of Mozambique - three mangrove trees stand apart from the shore but somewhat united in their isolation.  Over the course of the five-and-a-half years, I visited these trees and their surrounds many times, seeking them out in different conditions and at different tides.  And over the course of time, I noticed the life that went on around them: people collecting clams, fishermen sailing and anchoring their dhows, people praying, people mourning.  These things were also slowly incorporated into the project.
